Transformer Oil Dehydration is a critical maintenance process for Oil-filled Transformers. The Transformer's insulating oil, or dielectric fluid, can absorb moisture over time, which significantly reduces its insulating properties. A high moisture content can lead to a lower dielectric strength (Breakdown Voltage or BDV), which increases the risk of electrical breakdown, flashovers, and premature aging of the transformer's solid insulation (paper and pressboard). Timely dehydration of the oil is essential to maintain the Transformer's health, extend its lifespan, and prevent costly failures.
